A sheep stool will keep you company for many years. To help you find the right model, we have put together the five points that matter when buying.

1. Material: genuine sheepskin and solid wood

The most important difference is in the fleece. Genuine sheepskin is warm, breathable and gets more beautiful over the years. Fake fur mats and builds up static. Also look for a solid wooden body and hand-carved horns made of lime wood. Our stools come from Sheepskin Nature and can be recognised by the brand stamp in the wood and the original label.

2. Type of fleece

  • German sheepskin: dense, short to medium-length, very robust. The all-rounder.
  • Icelandic sheepskin: long, silky wool, especially fluffy.
  • Tibet-Locki: curly wool, a real eye-catcher.
  • Lambskin: finer and softer, ideal for cushions and children's stools.

The type of fleece is given in the fact sheet of each stool.

3. Size and seat height

Think about where the stool will stand:

  • Children's stool: low seat height, for the nursery and for playing.
  • Sheep stool: around 47 centimetres seat height, fits the dining table, sofa and hallway.
  • Bar stool: higher seat for counters and kitchen islands.

You will find all dimensions and the weight capacity in the fact sheet of each model.

4. One of a kind or series

With us, every stool is a unique piece. In the photos you see exactly the stool you will receive, with its own fleece and its own pattern. Models marked “limited” exist only once or in small numbers.

5. Care

Sheepskin is easy to care for: shake it out, brush it up with the fleece brush, dab stains straight away with a damp cloth and avoid direct sunlight. A fleece brush and floor protectors come with every stool. You will find detailed tips in the article Caring for sheepskin.
