Genuine sheepskin is a wonderful natural product. Whether as a cozy accent in a modern chalet interior or as a comfortable seating option: the temperature-regulating properties of the fur provide cozy warmth in winter and a pleasantly cool effect in summer. In addition, the material is naturally robust and dirt-repellent.

Since our sheepskins are hypoallergenic, they are also excellent for sensitive individuals. The natural lanolin contained in the fur has an antibacterial effect and makes it difficult for dust mites to settle. How do you properly prepare your sheepskin for cleaning?

Before you start cleaning, please check if the fur has any coarse dirt. For a particularly gentle treatment, you should avoid standard household detergents, as these can dry out the leather. We recommend a moisturizing wool and sheepskin soap to maintain suppleness. Always use lukewarm water when washing.

Tip: Often it is sufficient to carefully dab small stains with a damp cloth instead of washing the entire fur. Make sure not to soak the fur unnecessarily with water.

How to wash your sheepskin correctly

We prefer hand washing for our exclusive pieces. Place the fur in a basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of sheepskin soap. Carefully work this into the wool with kneading motions. Then rinse thoroughly with clear, lukewarm water until no soap residue remains.

Can you wash sheepskin in the washing machine?

Some of our furs are suitable for the wool wash cycle of the washing machine. Please use only a special wool detergent at a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and select a low spin speed to avoid matting of the fibers. Do not use fabric softener, as this could impair the natural structure of the leather and fur.

Correct drying after cleaning

Patience is the key when caring for natural products. Gently squeeze out excess water – please do not wring or twist under any circumstances. Then dry the fur lying flat on a towel at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources such as radiators or bright sun, as this can make the leather brittle. Once the fur is dry, brush it gently with a soft fur brush to restore the original shine and fluffy structure of your unique piece.
